Open Rehearsal: Swing into Summer with the Kings Place Jazz Orchestra

This is a chance to get an early glimpse of a brand new programme for the orchestra. KPJO is a handpicked project-based ensemble bringing together some of the UK’s finest jazz and big band musicians alongside rising-star young artists. Directed by acclaimed, composer, arranger and trombonist Callum Au, and featuring vocalist Iain Mackenzie, this special rehearsal offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the orchestra in action.

The programme is an energetic, swinging celebration of the Great American Songbook, inspired by the music of Marty Paich and the Dektette, and the songs recorded by Mel Tormé on his 1960 album Swings Shubert Alley.

Please feel free to drop in at any point between 1.30pm and 3.30pm,  guests are very welcome to come and go as they please.

We’d love for you to join us for this informal preview with Kings Place’s flagship resident ensemble.
