Swing into Summer with the Kings Place Jazz Orchestra

KPJO is a handpicked, project-based ensemble, made up of the UK’s finest jazz and big band musicians, alongside rising-star young artists. Kings Place Jazz Orchestra is more than a new resident ensemble – it’s a bold statement of artistic ambition.

Directed by award-winning composer, arranger and trombonist Callum Au, and featuring acclaimed vocalist Iain Mackenzie, this all-star 10-piece line-up includes members of the orchestra, complete with additional french horn and tuba.

This energetic, swinging set of songs is inspired by the music of Marty Paich and the Dektette, in a selection of tunes originally recorded by the great Mel Tormé in 1960 on the seminal album “Swings Shubert Alley”.

Founded in 2025 by Callum Au (Creative Director), Hannah Hutton (Producer), and Sam McShane (Artistic Director, Kings Place), the Orchestra was created to bring the powerful, immersive sound of the big band to the heart of a contemporary arts centre.

Join this trailblazing ensemble for a celebration of the Great American Songbook and our thriving London jazz scene.
