CREATIVE TENDRING
PUTTING CULTURE IN THE HANDS OF LOCAL PEOPLE
Creative Tendring is a bold new cultural programme for the Tendring district, made possible thanks to a £750,000 award from Arts Council England’s Creative People and Places programme, supported by National Lottery players.
Led by Arts Trust Productions in partnership with Tendring District Council, Community Voluntary Services Tendring (CVST), and the Harwich Festival, Creative Tendring will bring together artists, local organisations, and residents to celebrate what makes Tendring unique.
Over the next few years, we’ll be working with local communities to design and deliver creative projects that reflect local voices and local pride, from festivals and workshops to public art and creative gatherings.
OUR AIM
We believe that everyone should have the chance to take part in creativity where they live. Creative Tendring is here to:
Celebrate local identity and tell the stories that make our coastal communities special.
Tackle isolation and build wellbeing through shared creative experiences.
Empower residents to shape and lead the cultural life of their towns and villages.
Support local talent and create pathways for people of all ages to explore their creativity.
OUR APPROACH
This programme isn’t something happening to Tendring, it’s being built with Tendring. We’ll listen, collaborate and co-create. Through open community panels, workshops and creative hubs, residents will help decide what happens, where it happens, and who’s involved.
WHAT’S NEXT
From 2026, our teams will begin a development phase, listening to local ideas and forming creative partnerships. The first public events will launch in 2027, marking the start of a 10-year vision to embed creativity into everyday life across Tendring.
Creative Tendring will be a space where everyone, from young people to older residents, artists to newcomers, can connect, create, and be part of something that truly belongs to them.
