Bim Malcomson: Dance Exchange Project (2012)
The proposal is to work towards a week long choreographic project bringing together young people from different cultural and dance backgrounds. Dancers from the Ballet, Contemporary and Street dance worlds will be brought together to share both creatively and socially. Three young choreographers will be given the opportunity to create work on the diversity of dancers present allowing them to expand their creative experiences through working with dancers from different backgrounds than they normally work with. Bim Malcomson will be the young choreographers mentor throughout the project. As part of the week’s social experience the dancers will eat together. The pieces that will be created will be shown at an informal sharing at Trinity Laban and at the Royal Opera House at The Clore. Leading up to the project week the choreographers will be offered sessions looking at subjects related to choreography, namely Music and Art and will be given the opportunity to discuss their practice with working Artists and Choreographers.
